Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts open new hotel in Tianjin, China

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has opened its 85th hotel in China’s largest northern port city, Tianjin. The 302-room Shangri-La sits on the bank of the Haihe River in the new Hedong District. Tianjin is a bustling business destination – home to nearly 300 Fortune 500 companies and only 30 minutes by high-speed rail from Beijing.

The hotel caters to both business and leisure guests with an unmatched range of facilities and is conveniently located close to the city’s central business district as well as The Tianjin Railway Station.

In addition to its guest rooms, the hotel offers 39 serviced apartments. Fully integrated within the Tianjin Kerry Centre, Shangri-La Hotel Tianjin is the only five-star international hotel in the city connected to a shopping mall, incorporating multiple dining and entertainment venues.

The Haihe River is aesthetically echoed within the hotel, with the grand lobby chandelier mimicking sunlight reflecting on water, while the flow of the river is mirrored in the carpet motif of water lilies on a cerulean blue waterway. Paris-based artist, Chen Jiang Hong, returned to his home city of Tianjin to paint a stunning mural commissioned for the Shangri-La’s lobby lounge.
