Second World War refugee inspires famous chef to help feed those Londoners in need

LOTTI Henley, a 91-year-old Slovenian who was made a refugee during the Second World War and experienced extreme hunger in a repatriation camp, has dedicated her life to reducing food wastage and distributing the food to those who need it. She set up Plan Zheroes – The Zero Food Waste Heroes – which connects food, business and charities so that excess food can be made available to those who need it most. Lotti has convinced over 250 restaurants, food stores, supermarkets, markets and bakeries to join the network alongside charities.

Lotti’s story inspired the founder of School of Wok, a cookery school that specialises in Asian style cuisine, Jeremy Pang, to join the Plan Zheroes network and do his bit to end hunger in London. He and his team are hosting a large-scale cookery event, Wok for 1000, where participants will learn how to cook three dishes from scratch and these meals will be delivered to charities who support those in need.
