PFWM SS19: Off-White

WITH the denim in the heart of the SS19 Men’s collection, the Off-White show at the Paris Fashion Week marries street style to the glam of the runway. From head-to-toe denim looks to oversized coats and t-shirts, Virgil Abloh masterfully plays with shapes and colours, suggesting daring silhouettes to the men of the 21st century.

The brand’s ultra-modern aesthetic permeated the collection through a compound of printed details, from colourful “Off” writings on jeans to Bart Simpson prints on t-shirts. Glass particularly remarks the oversized raincoats, styled to reinvent the ordinary with their relaxed shape and washed colouring.

The fundamental accessory of the Off-White’s SS19 collection were large metal chain elements, attached to the zipper of multiple denim jackets, to the belts of low-rise jeans, or as a standout necklace on some of the looks. The handyman tools make part of those metal pieces that seem to bridge the gap between the hands-on lifestyle of older generations and playful millennial manners.

Monotony was a taboo in the collection, also featuring Virgil Abloh’s latest collaboration with Rimowa: the transparent suitcase was playfully carried on the shoulders during the show. Other looks very accompanied by belt bags and backpacks with classic Off-White prints as well as the range of graphic sneakers and sporty brogues to highlight the streetwear devotion of the brand.
