When the lights dim and the first few looks of Elie Saab’s AW15 collection walk down the runway in Paris today, you can almost hear ACDC’s Back in Black playing in the background. Saab’s recent couture collection was light, airy, full of pastels and flowing gowns, his autumn edition is like the darkness that falls after a light spring day.
There’s an edge to the clothing that is intoxicating to look at. There are dyed fur accents; deep shimmering blues against the blacks, and intricately laser-cut effects on the garments, all adding up to something spectacular.
Saab’s latest collection is dripping with drama and intensity, all of the clothing is completely wearable if you err to the daring in your style choices. But let’s be honest, not everyone can pull off leather elbow-length gloves with an evening gown.
