PFW AW15: Acne Studios

It doesn’t take long for Acne Studios to reveal where it is going with its AW15 collection. Two looks in, and there’s already a sheer top displaying the models’ chest, which reoccurs a number of times throughout this 1930s referencing collection. But fear not, there is much more to this collection than mere sensationalism.

Acne Studios uses a number of thick, classical fabrics for AW15. There are some mesmerising optical illusion styled patterns that continue to reappear every few looks, which completely captivating. The collection also contains more classic looks with simple skirts and jackets, followed by the over-sized sleeve coats with stitching detail and on-to sleeveless patchwork style coats.

As a whole the entire collection is minimalistic; the patterns are interesting and captivating. Every spontaneous detail that is in this collection is interesting enough to make it unique without being excessive. A balance that is hard to find in fashion, but with every colourful button, subtle pattern, and exaggerated stitch, Acne Studios manages this balance.
