PFW AW14: Maiyet

Inspired by Frida Kahlo’s portraits and the intricacies of her work, Maiyet’s collection for AW14 took its direction from the different stages and characteristics of the painting process. Looks presented ranged from form-fitting silhouettes to a more relaxed elegant outline, including over-sized pieces of outerwear.

Zig-zag lines, speckled miniature geometric shapes, and digital patterns were prints incorporated in the line. Some detailing included plunging necklines, cut-out sections, high slits, fur lining on pockets and collars.

With short jackets, long coats, casual and evening dresses, vests, two-piece suits and skirts, there was sure to be something for every woman in this collection.  The colour palette included black and grey, accented with yellow, maroon and purple.  Models held coloured fur clutches, pointed ankle boots, chunky rings, and the odd necklace or pair of patent leather gloves.
