THE Dior Homme SS18 collection for Paris Men’s Fashion Week took Dior’s style from the past and gave it a thoroughly modern twist. Kris Van Assche picked teenage boys to model the collection – fitting for the youthful, school wear vibe that infused the collection.
With the runway covered in artificial grass, the schoolboy sports theme comes across nicely while the clothes echo that same theme. Items such as baseball caps, polo tops and varsity jumpers bring everything together. A tailored, pin-stripe suit is paired with white trainers – showing an intermingling of prep school and avid sportsman.
The models’ boyish faces and unruly hair paired with short shorts, stripes, collared shirts and blazers heightened the youthful selection. Sleeveless jumpers and tank tops with the word Paris printed upside down site the collection within the location it was presented, yet not quite in the time. Strips of tape with 3 Rue de Marignan – the address of the Dior men’s studio – lined the lapels of blazers and was fashioned into a prom rosette bringing this youthful collection together.
