NYFW SS18: Diane von Furstenberg

THE return of trends and brands from our childhood and teenage years has never been bigger on the catwalk, so it was no surprise that for SS18, Diane von Furstenberg, went back to the 1970s for their latest collection. Jonathan Saunders, DVF’s chief creative officer, took the ’70s and ran with them. The collection was a refreshing, modern and bright for NYFW but also kept the brands familiar image.

A Glass favourite from the collection was the high-waisted, two-toned denim jeans with white lining. Matched with black, blue and orange arrow jumper and light purple, suede fitter jacket. Paired with open-toe lace up boots and statement earrings. The clean and cut outfit was simple but had the perfect amount flare – perfect for any occasion.

Another stand-out look was the royal blue tassel dress. The blue bra top is covered with a see through, mesh V-neck top with long tassels adorning the lining in a similar V shape and on the sleeves. The tassels lined the sides of the block-blue silk dress. The model also wore mint green earrings and a large, hoop crystal necklace giving us a modern Cher feel. Similarly, there was a sherbet yellow silk, tassel and mesh skirt as well as a green, tassel dress and orange tassel shirt.

Overall, there was a vivid colour pallet with worked with the free-flowing silhouettes seen throughout the runway. The mix of shirts, dresses, jumpsuits, jumpers and fur collars is ideal for all seasons.
