NYFW SS15: 3.1 Philip Lim

Philip Lim’s turn this season was a turn for the best, not necessarily a drastic changeover in principles, but in certain ways, he’s found a more secure footing, so stand up and take note of Lim’s signature moves. With a collection as tied-together as it is terrifically new, Lim designed with the home in mind for Spring/Summer, taking what we all feel most comfortable in whilst around the home abode to stylish lengths of loungewear in light, semi-sheer organza’s, appearing just a little bit lighter on account of the dusty, though more dusky here and there, colour schemes.

The beyond asymmetrical focus on lopsided hems meant new technical territory was to be explored, exaggerated to unruly extents with constricting piping, which, on more than one occasion, served to flash fragmented glimpses of flesh through deconstructed kimono’s. The real draw that Lim dictated this time around was the more practical pieces though, and whilst crisp white cropped trouser suits, oversized t-shirts and dainty, more daring, appliqued jackets with capped sleeves may not galvanise many new consumers, they will instantly garner the adulation of Lim’s ultimate female.

We are sure you’ll be seeing much more of this collection here, there and everyone around town though, because this is a collection that’s primed and ready to dare the fashion press to interpret many of the pieces in their own ways.
