NYFW Recap: Porsche Design AW15

The Porsche Design AW15 collection is a dystopian vision cast in hues of black, deep greens and grays, and camel tones. Picture WWII-era womenswear silhouettes: Hepburn-style sailor trousers, empire waists, flamboyant shoulders, and riding pants. Now take the silhouettes and mutate them in a Matrix-like transformation, streamlining color schemes and accessorizing with impenetrable spectacles.

The collection’s womenswear is a fusion of a gaunt metropolis and the brazen femininity embraced by turn-of-an-era sartorial renegade. The collection’s menswear is, true to form, sleek and clean cut, sharply tailored and relatively traditional. The show achieved an elegance that we are not surprised by, but which we find gladly refreshing season and season again.
