NYFW AW15: Narciso Rodriguez

Narciso Rodriguez is a master of figure-flattering monochrome and cuts that balance gracefully between strength and femininity. This season his creations benefited from added platform height, the models soaring like lithe amazons producing an exceptionally long and lean silhouette. Wide-leg trousers with high waists and A-line skirts were paired with barely-there tops and sweeping coats – at once intangibly elegant and thoroughly sensual.

Spaghetti straps, subtle lace, bralets and geometric seams across the torso were layered with sheer and slim long-sleeved blouses. Dresses accentuated the natural waist and clinged to the figure, ending at a ladylike calf length.

Combining saffron and blush, mint and navy, Rodriguez broke up the graphic black and white, some of these gently colour-blocked looks the best in the entire collection. The floral prints were maybe less of a success, however his venture into textures like the embroidered rust dress and speckled tweeds added a necessary sense of depth.
