Calvin Klein’s Francisco Costa kept it practical in the brand’s age-old affinity with stylish simplicity this season, opening the whole AW15 affair with midi-trenches of sleek black pony-skin. This set the bar high when it came to elegance and the sixties mod-esque dresses that followed carried this through, working themselves into a number of city chic ensembles.
Textured and treated suedes and leathers took centre stage around mid-point in the kind of garments that AW dreams are made of. Klein jigsaw’ed fabrics together for the most interesting cuts of graphic buttoned up jacket dresses that New York has shown off for a while. As a design house Calvin Klein have collectively catered for the cool that the fashion capital city should be creating at full capacity yet however so, this just locates the iconic label in an even more prominent position and we’re glad for that.
It’s domination of the day at the end of NYFW’s schedule this season didn’t take much; Costa simply works a charm when it comes to making the minimal go far, like his pioneering predecessor who founded the brand he knows that less is usually much more.
