NYFW SS18: Alexander Wang

INSTEAD of chasing pavements, Alexander Wang was busy chasing the busy streets of Brooklyn to debut his SS18 collection.  The show took place in three different New York streets, where all 32 models where transported to each location in a #WANGFEST bus. Wang’s shows are always extravagant and wild and it was a Glass favourite.

A stand-out look from the collection was the dark grey cut-off jean shorts which were stitched together with black leather creating a mixed material trouser. Mica Arganaraz, wore it with an oversized blue and white pinstriped work shirt. The tucked in shirt was half covered by a cream lace, silk camisole top. The overall look was paired with red fishnet boots and a studded, black leather bag.

Another favourite was a champagne silk wrap-dress with a knotted strap. Adorned with black lace and black stockings, Anna Ewers wore a smoking embellished headband with a cigarette decorating it. It reminded us of an early Kate Moss feel.

Throughout all of his collection, Wang used a very similar dark colour palette of white, black, silver and grey and this season was no different. Sequins, leathers, denim and silk materials were seen on the runway as well as the designer’s Adidas collaboration.

For New York, Wang delivered and his collection was a modern reworking of all the things we love.
