Milan Menswear SS16: Fendi

During their time to shine in Milan this season Fendi put together a collection of sleek sportswear ensembles so sleek that it positively yanked the style into the formal department. Drenched in the most sublime leathers and snakeskin variants around, Silvia Venturini Fendi reveled in creating modern sartorial visions for the male counterpart of the very successful Fendi female.

Visors at the ready, hopefully this is just an optional addition to the majority of the outfits put together, this season featured a seductive array of menswear with personality. Note the loose yet oh- so-boyish shirt and trouser combos that jumped off the skin, coupled with the shimmering leather jackets that fuel the Fendi myth in part due to their idiosyncratic craftsmanship.

Elsewhere, the amusing infiltration of the bag bug aesthetic that has taken over the house found its way into the nooks and cranny’s of menswear SS16 for an extra punch.

Although, Silvia is more than adept at crafting menswear that suggests a slight departure from Fendi’s womenswear offering, which flaunts a little more pragmatism. Fortunately this is a brand that is quite aware its luxury male demographic wants clothing with a brand name like Fendi but with the kind of European savoir faire of some of the region’s top tailors.

This season is absolutely a testament to this union between high menswear and an esteemed designer label which tentatively throws in a little bit of subtle avant garde here and there.
