Milan Menswear SS16: Calvin Klein Collection

Calvin Klein kept SS16 as sporty chic as usual for the house that made high fashion universally cool with an iconically understated concept of luxury. Aside from the usual safe minimalism for men, creative director Italo Zucchelli also paid a brief homage to Klein’s contributions to the blue jean world with a collection that couldn’t disappoint.

Then again, it wasn’t going to break boundaries but at this point in Klein’s illustrious fashion history oeuvre, a menswear collection that ticks all the boxes is a safe bet. Some pleasant patterns gave life to the simple sweater shapes that opened the show and eventually built up to the careful layering of minimal suit ensembles that eventually started sprouting some utilitarian adjuncts, extra pockets, exaggerated belts and the likes.

The collection really picked up pace however when a healthy lathering of Calvin Klein blue jean was called upon and even doubled upon in some instances in a swank exercise of the endearing power of a simple white t-shirt and a pair of perfect jeans.

The rest of the collection simply continued from then on, stylishly but with little of note other than a single palm tree print which spoke of Klein’s more adventurous side as a brand. Next time around we’d just adore a little bit more of that adventure to take shape.
