Milan Fashion Week: Etro SS14

A tribute to the silk scarf, Veronica Etro’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection for her family´s fashion house featured a tantalising mix of the signature paisley in all varieties thinkable, dots and red or blue floral prints echoing the dots we have been seeing everywhere this season. Essentially, Etro has a way with colour that borders upon the occult, combining them to create just that exact atmosphere that evokes memories of bygone sun-drenched holidays complete with an analogue filter, that perhaps never really existed. Opening the show were golds, taupe and aqua, moving through the blues into coral and later poppy red with washed-out khaki, intense yellow, mint green and the palest lilacs and pinks towards a pastel conclusion.

Dresses, tops and trousers had that effortless look of a featherlight shawl fashioned into a garment – draped in triangles around the models’ necks were also silk scarves – tasselled or embellished with molten platinum beads. Loosely knitted striped tops added warmth and textural interest, paper bag waist wide-leg trousers and clever layering underlined the dreamy 70s vibe. Beauty wise, the fresh faced, glowing look complete with long wavy hair in a mid-parting and ethnic style drop earrings were also right on point.

Whether packing for a holiday or staying in the sizzling city heat next summer we would love to do it all clad in Etro.
