Massimo Giorgetti revealed a colourful collection in a wide variety of textiles in Milan this week and MSGM’s signature markings were scattered throughout the many subthemes running through its AW14 offering, linking together 40 or so looks.
Red-orange, black and white combinations were present in a number of looks including an oversized floral-printed, sport-edged sweater paired with a long red lace skirt and a floral printed pantsuit.
A Prince of Wales checked dress with blocked colour panels in orange and yellow-gold on the skirt was featured with a sheer orange shirt underneath and paired with sheet footless black tights. A chunky turtleneck worn over a gold sequin-like scale knee-length skirt added shimmer and texture along with fuzzy flats.
Aside from the trademark designs, MGSM featured other looks such as a head-to-toe shiny fabric gold pantsuit. Sleeveless long vest type jackets in solid colours with blocks of print were original, and dresses had chiffon crossbody details. Accessories included fur looking mittens and footwear ranged from fur detailed flats to penny loafer style shoes with tassels.
This season’s varied collection away from the usual streetwear wear was an attempt at evolution in the brand which was confirmed by Giorgetti who said, “MSGM is known for its mix-and-match. This time, I wanted to show more total looks. It’s a little more grown-up, a little less girlish.”
