MFW AW14: Emilio Pucci

Kaldeidoscopic perhaps best describes the colourful, geometric prints for which Emilio Pucci is famous. With Peter Dundas at the helm as Creative Director since 2009, Pucci is consistently pretty yet surprising – characteristics that echo throughout the brand’s AW2014 collection shown Saturday in Milan.

This season, the colours were brown, black, muted orange, yellow, khaki green with a jolt of vibrant yellow, emerald green and orange. Materials throughout were leather, mink, fox, pony hair, chiffon and wool. The few accessories used included the odd large leather purse with thick fur straps, knee-high boots and strappy sandals.

The outfits appeared to have a Western movie meets 1960s feel with the iconic signature prints surging throughout the line. Detailing included the use of tassels, tribal prints, patching and heavy studding. Dundas included one piece outfits featuring cut out pieces fused with palazzo type bottoms, maxi dresses, short dresses and two-piece suits. The looks were strong and feminine, natural face and lips, heavy bottom liner and the some but not all models showcased a gold reflective t-zone.
