Meanwhile Back In the Wick – new show opens

Prompt Gallery presents its debut show Meanwhile Back In The Wick in what was Hackney Wick’s first exhibition space, Queens Yard, featuring the work of three Wick-based artists, Aida, John Atherton and OKO.

Aida and John Atherton have been based in Hackney Wick since 2008, with Aida developing her printmaking practice and Atherton establishing a business in the area, as well as his creative practice. Described as a “permanent fixture in the street art revolution since 2005”, Croatian OKO uses the world as her canvas; and has travelled extensively, skating or painting her intricately drawn work. She has now made Hackney Wick her home.

Prompt Gallery says it is very excited to be based in Hackney Wick, and particularly Mother Studios. Events such as Hackney WickEd and First Thursday have ensured that the area remains a focus for emerging and established talents.

The artists say, “Our mission as a new gallery is to be involved and work with as many diverse disciplines and communities as possible, in particular individuals or groups from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.”
