Produced by the premium brandy brand the original film envisions earth 100 years from now, placing brand ambassador John Malkovich in a post-apocalyptic setting, preserving a bottle of Louis XIII cognac. The film – not set to be released officially until 2115 (yes, 100 years in the future) – was directed by Robert Rodriguez and inspired by the time it takes to blend and age just one single decanter of Louis XIII.

The event was hosted by Ludovic du Plessis, the global executive director of Louis XIII, and saw Plessis joined by many celebrity guests, tastemakers and business luminaries. These included actors such as Jack Fox and Naomi Harris, current Miss Moneypenny of the James Bond film series, fashion designer Elizabeth Emanuel and socialites such as Ashley James and Noelle Reno.

The  film has arrived in London following a global tour during which it was “unveiled” to other high-profile international guests in Los Angeles and Hong Kong. Until 2115 the world will play the waiting game until its official premiere on November 18, 2115, one century from now. To ensure it remains intact John Malkovich himself was tasked with placing the film in a state-of-the-art time capsule safe, set to open automatically when the date comes around.

For now, 1,000 guests from around the world are scheduled to receive invitations to give to their descendants to attend the premiere of  100 Years when the moment arrives at the House of Louis XIII in Cognac, France. This is one scenario where time will truly tell as to the final outcome of 100 Years.

Much like the four generations of cellar masters that are employed to oversee the production of a bottle of Louis XIII over the course of 100 years, we’ll leave it up to future generations to decide.
