London Festival of Architecture begins this week

This week the London Festival of Architecture returns for its’ 10th anniversary, yielding its reputation and industry contacts by hosting a series of discussions and debates, exhibitions, and interactive tours celebrating architecture throughout the whole month of June.

The festival kicked off proceedings last night with a debate questioning London’s rapidly changing skyline, entitled The Towers Debate: does London need more tall buildings? Hosted by a panel that included Julia Barfield – founder of Marks Barfield, and one of two architects behind the London Eye;  The Observer’s architecture critic Rowan Moore and Chair of the Planning Committee, London Assembly Nicky Gavron, to name but a few who debated the current surge in high-rise construction that is sweeping across the capital.

For those who prefer a more sensory experience, each week the festival is opening up a range of design and architectural practices as open studios, along with various film screenings and installations across the city.
