IS there an etiquette for applying lipstick in public places, because lippy applied once in the morning will just not stand up to all the real and air kissing you’ve got to do all day? I do love those city gals who can do a full face in five minutes on the top deck of a bus on the way to work, but if you, like me, are not one of them, you need something that you put on once and will stay there without looking that you’ve erred on the side of excess.

I tried two matte shades, Ravishing Red and the coral pink amusingly titled Deal With It. It’s almost worth wearing the latter just to answer “Deal With It” when women (for it is never men) ask you what shade you are wearing. Application of the stain takes a steady hand and good lighting to prevent feathering (not one for the bus jobs) but the lipstick itself acts as an emollient and a seal that really does last all day.

The red shade brightens up the whole complexion. I would go so far to say that if you’ve no time for anything else, make up wise, dab on a slick of this. The Deal With It shade is more subtle, elegant and demure. and perhaps better suited to complete an entire look. Staying power without looking overdone. Result!
