LFWM18: What We Wear

CONCEPTS of the everyday worker reimagined by Tinie Tempah’s athleisure brand What We Wear translates into a runway saturated with sharp, sporty workwear chic. Tempah’s third fashion show opened with a short film in which diverse individuals expressed themselves, highlighted a focus on inspirations taken from the British public. Influenced by practical work uniforms, deconstructing aspects to appeal to youthful demographics, takes already trending industrial looks to new heights.

Using technical fabrics to create boxy silhouettes, each minimalistic look is finished with prominent pockets, zip detailing and oversized collars, presenting designs of ultra-modern mode. Debuting a range of knitwear that look as cosy as they do fashionable, an emphasis on re-working functional items became key at the show. A range of accessories, such as a knitted scarf branded with the wavy what we wear logo stitched across it, completed the range by adding extra dimensions to the wearable outfits.

Tempah returns to creating style through head to toe toning, whether using the most masculine of blues or the more daring shade of safety orange, allows the rapper turned designer to experiment with materials as each look remains clean through consistency of colour. Using a complementary palette of colours throughout the season means the pieces group to create a mix and match wardrobe of smart-causal styling.

Additional to the familiar, Tempah worked with patterns of stripes and plaid this season incorporating them with the block colour norm. In-vogue chunky trainers presented in simple monochrome colourways kept the focus on the use of such new prints and cuts. Learning and growing, What We Wear continues to develop into an intriguing menswear brand for the future.
