LFW SS18: Versus Versace

DONATELLA VERSACE debuted her SS18 Versus Versace collection in the backroom at Central Saint Martins in London.  It was a fitting location as Donatella recently announced the Gianni Versace Scholarship at CSM. Marking his 20th death anniversary, the scholarship not only honours his memory but future upcoming designers.

Compared to the Versace brand, Versus is the younger, cooler and rebellious sibling brand. The collection saw the Versus logo printed on crop-tops, t-shirt dresses, hoodies, large canvas bags and chokers.

The 1990s chain style design also found itself on the runway. Seen in on sheer black shirts as well as a mint and red version. A standout look was the cut of shorts with matching denim jacket, bra, scarf and sheer shirt. The repetition of the design should be too much, however Donatella made the look modern and contemporary.  Another look we liked was the same scarf and shirt design however this was paired with a checked skater skirt and a metallic jacket.  The clash of materials and design was cleverly achieved and is a look we would happily wear.

Checked flares, bucket hats and rain jackets were also seen as well as black tailored garments, reminding us of the early noughts collection from Versace. Black net and neon green straight dresses, the collection fits for any occasion from workwear to partying or attending your first rodeo.
