LFW SS15: Matthew Williamson

Matthew Williamson did what he knows best this season, which is giving us his best – the work that made him such a fashion mainstay in London and also famous across the UK. Glam was what he traded in this SS15, low-key glam, but glam nonetheless, and when it comes to glam, Glass doesn’t say no. Accentuating his hallmark S/S floral print, Williamson called upon a variety of exotic forms, from the kimono to the jet-setting wrap dress, giving us a whole lot of ideas for our next sojourn to more caring climates.

He followed on from this with the crowd pleaders we’ll all salivate over this season – luxe trouser suits with botanica embellishments and other classics that no doubt came about by way of Marie Helvin photographed in the tropics by David Bailey. The nonchalance of casual 1970s glamour then continued, with hibiscus prints on gown after uninhibited flowing gown, positively popping off the fabric when crafted in hot pink, yellow and azure. While the methods Williamson exercised weren’t necessarily revolutionary, they will delight his loyal followers, ensuring his forte stays fresh, for the moment that is.
