LFW AW14: Yifang Wan

On the Fashion Scout off-schedule today was Yifang Wan, born in  Xia Men, China, the London-based designer has carved a stellar reputation as one of the most exciting new Asian creatives of today. Her simplistic and effortlessly elegant aesthetic are combined with low key elements of martial art and sculpture, making Yifang Wan’s collections extremely distinctive and beautifully executed.

Inspired by the working environment of artists and sculpturers where comfort and ease is the key Wan transforms utilitarian into a softer silhouette with hints of maturity and allure. This was translated into supple wool contrasted with knitted mohair in tone on tone keeping the looks cool and understated. Deep navy coats and jacket speckled with gleaming silver fleck and symmetrical pocket in varying sizes.

The collection was a palette of wine red, blue green and pale lilac heightened femininity but also shades of light and dark grey paired with black. It was simplistic workwear and a great collection of shirts cut in the most unexpected way.
