LFW AW14: Christopher Raeburn

English designer Christopher Raeburn debuted his Autumn/Winter 15 collection on day one of London Fashion Week.  The upcoming season’s collection drew its inspiration from the Last Days of The Arctic exhibition by photographer Ragnar Axelsson.

Layered heavy outerwear looks in delicate textures drew their inspiration from polar settings including ice flows, water and the Northern Lights.  Digital prints were applied to many different materials to create a variety of different effects including leathers, wools, and silks printed on accessories, dresses and jackets.  The colour palette reflected the arctic abyss using primarily tones of green, white, grey and blue.  Accessories consisted of signature rucksacks and totes.

Raeburn’s signature military and utilitarian detailing was present throughout the collection, however feminine silhouettes were still prominent.  Premium synthetic fur was added to outerwear and jumpers, nostalgic to those materials arctic explorers from the past used to adorn themselves in.  Polar bears were an addition to the labels animal mascots of the past, and were placed on many of the merino wool garments.

London Fashion Week continues to provide the concierge service in partnership with American Express and Christopher Raeburn.  The American Express Insiders can be seen around Somerset House wearing Raeburns wool cape design.
