Haute Couture Spring 2015: Christian Dior

Christian Dior haute couture SS15 show was a retro-themed collection reinventing the past through Simon’s futuristic lens.

The first looks, dresses encrusted with paillettes topped with plastic opera coats and then artfully combined elements of vintage geometrical mini-dresses embraced the romanticism of the 1950s. Also the guipure lace, and floral blossomy expansive dresses put more emphasis on the romantic vibes to get wilder with the fetishy over-the-knee vinyl bright colour boots.

As a second skin, the bodysuits in jacquard knit or tattoo-embroidered silk offered a sensual aura and liberated the until now very “lady-like” identity pushing the limits of the luxury house. Blending the romanticism of the ‘50s with ‘60s experimentation and the mass pop culture of today, the collection was an amalgamation of vintage and modernity, sensuality and classy, simplicity and hyperbole, history and future all in one.
