Creative tour de force Tiff McGinnis, aka Grande Dame, brings her multi-media spectacle to Ink-D Gallery, Brighton with her show My Voodoo On You – a psychedelic salon of sound, moving image, original art, limited editions, comics, textiles, wallpaper, soft furnishing, lights and ceramics.
My Voodoo On You has been a five-year project for McGinnis which began with her album. Originally from Columbus, Georgia, Tiff McGinnis’ early years were steeped in the sounds of the Deep South. Her latest album, the eponymous, Grande Dame, is described as “more of a collection of music from around the South than a genre-specific band album. Think dark, moody sound track to a southern gothic film”.

Once the album was recorded, Tiff McGinnis set out to make videos and animations for some of her songs. Never the minimalist, she has created four music videos and one animated short film for her spoken word piece, The Trip, which she has also produced in comic-book form.

McGinnis then selected images from her animations to make a series of artwork. Each piece loosely tells the story of a particular track and were inspired by iconography, film noir, pulp fiction covers, pinball, comic books, Art Nouveau, ‛60s black light and Fillmore East Posters, indigenous art and more.

For her Voodoo show at Ink_D, Tiff has created an entire immersive environment with all objects – wallpapered walls, silken cushions, ceramics, embroidery, a listening station, lights – inspired by her music.
