Glass recommends: The Treatment Rooms, Brighton

Oh we do like to be beside the seaside. A mere hour’s train ride from London, Brighton is a perfect spot for to enjoy a charming, traditional British holiday, where browsing the many vintage boutiques and taking long walks along the pebbly beaches are sufficient to soothe the most stressed out city-dwellers.

And if your trip to the beach happens to involve a spot of preening, then so much the better. We sent busy solicitor Alexandra Stenner to unwind at The Treatment Rooms – a delightful little beauty nook (award-winning several times over in fact) located opposite Brighton’s famous landmark The Pavilion …

“Sometimes you want a facial that involves high-tech wizardry, and others you want a more holistic approach with some de-stressing massage and blissful essential oils aplenty. The latter was exactly what their Essential Rose Facial involved – and was very much what I needed after a stressful few weeks at work,” says Alexandra.

“I was first given a brief skincare consultation, where I answered questions about my skin and was advised to add a serum to my normal routine to boost hydration levels. The facial began with having my feet washed (a very nice touch or maybe I should take the hint …).

“Afterwards, pillows were placed under my neck and knees and I was left to drift off as my therapist Liz quietly worked her magic. The only sound in the room was the relaxation music (no whale noises thankfully!) My dry skin was plumped up using rose water, geranium and evening primrose oil, while pressure point massage focusing on the shoulders, face and scalp sent me off into a blissfully catatonic state.

“The treatment was finished with a hydrating mask (which felt less uncomfortable than those I’ve experienced in previous facials) and my 85 minutes of heaven was up before I knew it. In my blissed-out state, I was then ushered to the pleasant Moroccan-themed relaxation room and sipped herbal tea, leaving with a healthy glow and happy, hydrated skin – the effects of which were still noticeable several days later.

“Having got married last year, I would have happily booked this treatment a week or so in advance to plump up my skin and ease any pre-wedding stress in the lead up to the big day.”
