Get caught up In the Pradasphere – the makings of Miuccia

A new day dawned for Prada yesterday, and on said day, the all-encompassing Pradasphere took flight. Prada, “a cosmos of its own”, is now Harrods’ honoured guest for the duration of this month, and, just our luck, the world has been invited to make the odd house call throughout May. Prada is definitely deserves a second glance, and more than that, to be celebrated for all of the many directions Miuccia Prada has explored since entering the family business in 1978.

As a result of the decorated collaboration, magnificent specifics include 40 traffic-stopping window displays dedicated to the brand’s output, a pop-up store, multiple fascinating screen displays and the Marchesi café, the tip-top elegant toast of the alliance set against a backdrop of the London skyline. Harrods and Prada sought to elaborate on the chic jamboree yesterday, confirming that the Pradasphere exhibition space is cardinally “a collection of remarkable objects arranged to reveal our complex, often intertwined, obsessions as manifest in everything from from fashion and accessories to art, architecture, film and culture”, affirming the exquisite materiality and craftsmanship of their stylistic universe.

Bringing the annals of the archive to the department store by electing the cultural themes that motivate the often heterogeneous tastemaker Muiccia, an overriding presence based on posits of beauty, taste, gender, vanity and finally power, is going to be apparent throughout every nook and cranny of the store.

However, a visit to the fourth floor will present you with a centrepiece comprised of six towering showcases distinguishing central themes, adjacent to a private lounge that adds to the aura of contemporary luxury with an intimate room fleeced entirely in deep plush green velvet.

Pradasphere is truly an erudite sight to behold, and will remain a valuable fixture at the world famous Knightsbridge store from May 2– 29.
