It’s hard to believe that a decade has gone by since Alber Elbaz first took the reins at Lanvin, but the eponymous French label’s latest book unveiling  the process of a collection begs to differ.

After sliding back the silk grosgrain cloth to divulge the new hardback, the first page opens onto a clean white sheet: the starting point for Elbaz himself.

“I start each collection with a blank page,” he says, citing this aspect as the scariest part of this work. “I need a story; I need to dream to start filling the white pages with women I know and women I want to know.”

Having previously been described by Suzy Menkes as “every woman’s darling”, the eternally humble designer demonstrated what should have been every woman’s nightmare as he sang the opening notes to Que Sera, Sera at his 10th Anniversary party. However, in a fashion that reflects not only his collections but also the designer himself, it was a rip-roaring success.

With an abundance of canapés and champagne, guests including Dita Von Tease, Tilda Swinton and Maggie Cheung knocked elbows and knees with some of fashion’s elite as the event turned into a late night party.

The runway show itself opened the 10th anniversary bash, showcasing bright colours and technical fabrics whilst Elbaz himself remained monochrome in his trademark black suit.

The marking of Alber Elbaz’s 10th anniversary at Lanvin was celebrated in true style, but everyone can have a piece of the last decade to keep forever in the beautifully bound pages of the anniversary book, complied and created by Elbaz himself.

Although the collection of photographs are in no particular order, the images heavily feature behind-the-scenes looks into the creation of Lanvin’s garments, as well as an opulent journey through the history of the fashion house.

You may have missed out on the star-studded party (as well as the serenade), but if you’re on the look out for a piece of Lanvin you can have and hold forever, then Elbaz’s anniversary book is definitely a keeper.
