Displayed at last month’s Salone del Mobile fair, YOOX DESIGN fans no longer need to defer their interiors shopping until September. The range of contemporary, highly desirable lines are already available – no more impatient waiting. Glass get’s a sneak preview.

ALESSICHAIR by David Chipperfield Bac One chair designed by Jasper Morrison.
From Alessi, the ALESSICHAIR by David Chipperfield offers simplicity of form and subtlety of colour, whilst retaining utmost functionality. Meanwhile, two new pieces enter the Bac family at Cappellini, designed with lightness in mind to complement the original armchairs, with the instantly recognisable Bac One and Bac Two designed by Jasper Morrison.

Brick Lamp from Memphis Milano Whiteshell by Salvatore Indriolo for Zanotta
The surprising Brick Lamp from Memphis Milano, fits right in with those familiar with designer Richard Wood’s work: the Red Bricks range comprising lamps, tables and bookshelves. By Salvatore Indriolo for Zanotta, the award-winning Whiteshell brings cool, organic forms with stylistic Scandinavian modernity to storage units.

POUR & SERVE; POUR by Established & Sons Richard Woods for Established & Sons canvas bag
New from Established & Sons comes POUR & SERVE; POUR, a range of decanters inspired by old-style oilcans, and SERVE, a softly elegant tray formed from existing bent wood parts. And if all the interiors are too much and the mind wanders back to fashion accessories, Richard Woods for Established & Sons had the answer with his vivid, playful canvas bag. .

Against a moody, fume-filled backdrop and a trio of eighties muscle cars, three models – each clad in a different brilliant hue – fight it out in a slow motion battle across a barren wasteland.
This is the first look at the new coloured denim range from Australian label ksubi, a thrillingly tense action sequence in Kolors, a film directed by Daniel Askill. Chased by the animalistic cars, Bambi Northwood-Blythe, Cisco Gorrow and Heidi Harrington-Johnson run and soar athletically, with every movement – and colour – captured at 1,500 frames per second.
The 2004 coloured-denim trend has been widely accredited to ksubi, with the label launching the style’s worldwide return on 5th May. White, blue, orange, green, black, purple, red, plum, aged blue, aged green, aged yellow, aged black and aged pink go on sale along with the classic unisex ksubi t-shirts. The vibrant denim is available in a number of fits: for men in the ‘Chitch’ and ‘Van Winkle’ and women’s ‘Super Spray On,’ Super Skinny’ and ‘Super Skinny’ short.

From May 7th-22nd, Chanel will once again be adding the sumptuous touch eponymous with the house in an additional 300m2 of space adjoining the existing Cannes boutique.

Decorated in signature black and gold, the space has been inspired by the jewellery from the S/S11 ready to wear collection, with a graphic décor comprising golden-tiled units and an irresistible make-up bar. As well as an array of S/S11 designs, clients will get a sneak preview of the Paris-Byzance collection. Belted Erès swimwear and Karl Lagerfeld’s latest doll (clad in a black velvet suit with gleaming gemstones and crimson thigh high boots) will also embellish the boutique. On loan from the Chanel observatory are a number of gowns and suits worn by notable stars, including Keira Knightley and Penelope Cruz. Upstairs, furnished in all thinks luxurious, a small, private lounge offers the perfect red-carpet view of the Palais des Festivals.

Inside, the pared-back purity of minimal design contrasts the exterior opulence. A small perfumery offers fragrances, eyewear and other accessories, while the larger drawing rooms holds designs from the Paris-Byzance collection. The pool house, painted black for its new resident, is the backdrop for the S/S11 holiday collection, pairing elegance and relaxation in the featured dressing gowns, baseball caps and ‘Chanel’ embossed towels.

Defined by Vanity Fair as one of photography’s ‘grand masters’, Lillian Bassman’s romantic, experimental works are coming to London as part of an inspiring collaboration with The Wapping Project.

Born in 1917, Bassman captured a new essence of fashion: the mystery, sensuality and expressionistic glamour. Working mostly between the late 1940s to the early 1960s, her black and white photographs show women in a relaxed, almost indifferent light – a softer tone than was usually captured on film by her male counterparts.

Twenty of Bassman’s works will find a temporary home not in a London gallery, but in the Donna Karan store, once again within the fashion landscape of their creation. The photographs also form the centre of a series of tutorial events led by Jules Wright, Director The Wapping Project, Jocelyn Phillips, Curator of Photography, Bonham’s Auction House, Ligaya Salazar, Curator of Fashion, V&A, Magda Kearney, Curator National Portrait Gallery, Curator of the London College of Fashion Gallery and Sue Seward, journalist.

The exhibition runs from 11th May to 11th July at Donna Karan London, curated by Jules Wright. Images copyright Lillian Bassman, courtesy of The Wapping Project Bankside, London and Staley Wise Gallery, New York.
