Award-winning accessories commemorate this year’s Cannes Film Festival
As the beautiful and the rich descend on Cannes for its eponymous film festival this week, all eyes will be on their designer ensembles; from their jaw-dropping gowns down to their killer-heeled feet. With this in mind, footwear designer Sergio Rossi has designed a shoe and bag combo inspired by and celebrating the most glamourous event of the season.
For the ‘Cannes’ shoe, the designer imagined red satin feet click clicking across la Crosiette, paparazzi in tow. He pictured screen icons from Brigitte Bardot to Diane Kruger taking star turns in the lush garden scenery of the promenade. He immersed himself in the pinnacle of old Hollywood blended with European glamour.
And what did he come up with? A mimicry of the red carpet itself, the shoe is crafted in crimson silk satin, adorned with Swarovski crystals, and tied gracefully at the ankle by a pair of golden butterflies. The metamorphosis from starlet to star is complete with the flash of a well-made heel.
But the high priest of Italian shoe design knows that no French Riviera look is complete without matching accessories. The Minaudiere is a box clutch with the beautiful butterfly motif transformed into a real show-stopper, emblazoning the front of the purse. With gold emanating from the centre design, and a neat twist clasp, it really is the epitome of old school glamour.
As we begin to dissect the best that Cannes fashion has to offer, Rossi has ensured we too can join in on the sartorial parade. But his Cannes shoe and Minaudiere bag are available for a limited time only – so snap them up fast. Slip your limbs into luxury satin, and clutch your bag to your chest as you make a dash for it across the boardwalk. Flash bulbs optional.
