GLASS explores the new luxury beauty range which prides itself on being more than skin-deep

To those short-sighted fools who see make-up as a frivolous diversion from more serious matters, the idea of a lifesaving lipstick will doubtless seem ridiculous – but the people behind the ‘all for eve’ range have created just that. With all of its net profits donated to The Eve Appeal – a charity which funds groundbreaking research into gynaecological cancer – ‘all for eve’ not only benefits a worthy cause, but delivers a highly covetable product range that any woman would consider a welcome addition to her bathroom cabinet.

Created by George Hammer, founder of Harrods Urban Retreat Spa, the range is a tribute to the memory of his sister-in-law Nadia who died of ovarian cancer in 2008. After realising how little fundraising and awareness there was surrounding this type of cancer, he decided to use his beauty nous to develop a line of cosmetics that would not only benefit The Eve Appeal but raise awareness of a disease which is often known as “the silent killer,” affecting 20,000 women in the UK every year.

The range was developed by beauty bigwigs such as make-up artist Daniel Sandler and celebrity manicurist Sophy Robson, who designed their own lipstick and nail varnish respectively. “The [beauty] industry has been so supportive and welcoming of this project, probably because something like this has never been done before,” Hammer muses. “I didn’t have any problems getting people involved. Daniel [Sandler] has created the most amazing red lipstick with subtle undertones of blue that would look great on any woman. It’s an iconic and timeless colour, but I’d also like to develop a range of natural colours to match people’s skin tones.  But there would be the odd unusual colour to keep things interesting too!”
In addition to the make-up range, there is also line of bath and body products from Hammer’s Urban Retreat Spa – laced with nourishing ingredients such as Vitamin E and organic cucumber extracts. Best of all, they’re inordinately affordable. Daniel Sandler’s lipstick costs £10 while Urban Retreat’s Body Scrub will set you back a mere £6.95. “We wanted this range to be available to all, to ensure maximum possible awareness is raised. Despite this, the ingredients we use are of the highest quality, the very same ones used by other luxury brands charging four times the price!”

The range has already been awarded the recognition it deserves by sweeping the board at the The Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) Awards for Best New Brand, Best New Make Up, Best New Hand & Nail Care Product and Best New Bath and Body Product. Hammer is obviously delighted with the impact ‘all for eve’ has had since its recent launch, and hopes that the buzz surrounding it will only increase. “The range has attracted so much attention, I can’t wait to see it expand and develop over time.” With collaborations with Elemis, Rock & Republic and perfumer Roja Dove on the horizon, neither can we…
