Floris collaborates with Alexandra Shulman for latest scent, 1927

ON July 29 many years ago, Clara Bow was born. Little did she know she would later grow up to revolutionise and define an entire era  – the 1920s. In celebration of Clara Bow’s birthday and their latest perfume inspired by the jazz age, British perfumer Floris have created a video with former Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman and fashion historian Amber Butchart. The video sees Shulman and Butchart discuss the flapper era and the dramatic changes it brought for women in terms of their social mobility and dress.

Schulman notes, “[1927] was a very exciting year in British history because it was a huge period of innovation. Also it was a time on the cusp, which one might well feel we are in at the moment as well. You’d had a time of celebration of a post-war period and we were, shortly, to go into a Great Depression – but 1927 had its own kind of particular energy.”

Floris’ 1927

Citrusy bergamot and mandarin meets floral violet, mimosa and narcissus, grounded with base notes of sensual musk, patchouli and vanilla. 1927 is complex, elegant and opulent – guaranteed to live up to the glitz and glamour of the epoch it harks back to.
