Fall 2015 Haute Couture: Ulyana Sergeenko

The latest couture presentation staged by high fashionista Ulyana Sergeenko instantly placed the style conscious socialite at the top of the haute hit parade, despite being one of the first collections to make its debut in Paris this season.

Though Sergeenko is probably the most blatant example of a designer designing clothes for herself, Fall 2015’s looks were so immaculate and so infinitely inspired that the couturier is quite right in her belief that her peers should also want to wear these clothes. The cuts were womanly and the romantic themes rendered maturely, albeit rather cumbersomely in some instances.

The silken chinoiserie pyjamas with sable fur trims were no doubt an antidote to any factors that weakened the collection. Elsewhere the array of sinuous embellished sheath gowns graced the bodies marvellously and made it clear that Sergeenko is a woman who fashions female sensuality very well.

Admittedly, there was a slightly lingering air of scaling back about the collection. This is perhaps owing to the native Russian’s effort to distance herself from her close association with her home country’s oligarchy and the rather turbulent economic climate currently being felt. Nevertheless Fall was still a wonderfully decadent affair, brimming with all the fur-lined and gilt-edged trappings that never fail to get Couture off the right start.
