Aesop introduces new fragrance – Tacit

Never a company to flood the market with new fragrances, Australian skin and bodycare botanical brand Aesop, founded in 1987, has just launched its second ever scent – an eau de parfum called Tacit. Created in collaboration with French perfumer Céline Barel, Tacit updates the classic cologne and is a warm fresh yet complex, but not overly complicated, fragrance which can be worn by both men and women. It manages to be aromatic and earthy while also refreshing.

On first scent one gets warmth, sunshine, sophistication, lemon groves and bright verdant leaves. Born of “two key inspirations: the fresh notes found in traditional colognes; and the Mediterranean coast”, Tacit starts with citrus notes most notably yuzu with a generous addition of basil grand vert giving it a Mediterranean warmth with clovey undertones. The ingredients used to create the scent are of the best quality and highly refined – collected from all over the world.

Ideal for daywear, this is an enticing, more-ish scent which gets there without appearing to try too hard. Invigorating, energetic and unique, Tacit is perfect for work as it can be worn with confidence in the office without fear of overwhelming one’s co-workers.

Tacit – Aesop’s latest fragrance

Packaged in a minimal 50 mL apothecary-like amber glass bottle with the elegant sans serif lettering and logo that are associated with Aesop, this is an elegant addition to anyone’s dressing table.

Tacit is also presented in a stylish box which incorporates the work of Australian artist and designer Jonathan McCabe whose whose artwork “converts information inputs into algorithms that direct movement of colour and pattern” and who is also responsible for the Tacit Film which was produced to coincide with the fragrance launch.

McCabe had two inputs for the film– some music that was one of the original inspirations for Tacit and a recording of Barel describing the development process of the fragrance.

Producer and composer Eric Hoegemeyer and musician Jesse Paris Smith, of the New York-based musical production company Tree Laboratory, created the video’s soundtrack

by Caroline Simpson

Tacit EDP RRP: ₤63 for 50ml. Aesop has seven stores across London and is also stocked in Liberty and Selfridges
